2 Native American, likely Iroquois, FALSE FACE carved wooden masks. 1st item: Carved and painted Iroquois FALSE FACE mask having red and black polychrome paint. 11 1/2" H x 8 1/2" W. 20th century. 2nd item: Carved Native American FALSE FACE mask with inset copper eyes, protruding tongue and black horse hair. 10 1/4" H x 8" W. 20th century. Provenance: Property from the estate of Dorothy Louise Luhrs, PhD, (1910-1972), Archaeologist with University of New Mexico/School of American Research Field School, whose studies and research included the Una Via Chaco Canyon, NM, Largo Canyon, NM, Guatemala, Mexico, and the Hoopa Indian Reservation in northern California.
