Description
Rome, ca. 100 to 400 CE. This is a marble fragment carved in low relief showing the body of a standing youth. This fragment is probably part of a tomb, altar, or other architectural element. Although today it is completely white, in antiquity it would have been painted bright colors. Size: 5.25" W x 4.9" H (13.3 cm x 12.4 cm).
Provenance: Ex-M. Reiniger collection, Chicago, IL.
