Description
A rock from the estate of Hitler
This is an actual rock from the Berghof. The Berghof was the residence of Hitler located in the Bavarian Alps. Hitler spent most of his time in the Berghof during World War II. The Berghof was damaged by the British on April 25, 1945 due to bombing. Four days after Hitler committed suicide it was set on fire by the SS in early May and looted after allied troops got there. The Bavarian government blew it up on April 30, 1952 as part of an agreement in which the United States gave the area back to the Bavarian government. Destroying the building prevented it from becoming a neo-Nazi shrine or site seeing attraction. The ruins were finally destroyed in 2000.
