Item Details
Description
Southeast Asia, Thailand, ca. late 19th century to early 20th century CE. A miniature bronze Buddha blessing hand with tiny lotus flower in palm, in the traditional Abhaya Mudra, the gesture of protection with the hand pointing upwards. Buddhist hand symbols are often presented in specific styles to represent different aspects of Buddha and Buddhist values. This gesture is also called "Gesture of Fearlessness" or "blessing" or "fearless mudra". Generally, this position is shown with palms facing outward and the fingers extended upwards. This piece would make an ideal zen addition to a yoga or meditation room. Size: 4"L (10 cm).
