Description
ELIZABETH II: (1926- ) Queen of the United Kingdom 1952- . A fine A.L.S., Elizabeth R, two pages, 8vo, London, 24th March 1964, to Lady Henriette Abel Smith ('Dear Henriette'), on the printed stationery of Buckingham Palace. The Queen states 'Your letter has come to the top of the pile, and I cannot pass it without sending you a line of thanks for your kind letter of congratulations which I was delighted to receive and to say how much I appreciated yours and Alex's thought of me at the time of the baby's arrival' and further remarks 'It is interesting to hear about people's reactions abroad and particularly in America and it was so nice to read about the pleasure the baby's arrival gave to so many people. He is flourishing and…..has already made 6lbs 9ozs! He was very small, so I am getting well very quickly.' The Queen concludes 'I was fascinated to see the notepaper headed Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows - it sounds exotic from here!' A letter of wonderful content. About EX
