Description
A Japanese blue ground cloisonné teapot with dragons. Meiji period, late 19th century; features a dragon amidst clouds above waves encircling the shoulder; a second dragon on the lid, and a wisdom flaming pearl mark on the base. The maker's mark is related to one commonly used by noted cloisonné artist Gonad Hirsute. Measures 10 x 10 inches. We are happy to offer in-house shipping for all but very large or very fragile items. Some international orders my need to be handled by a third party shipper. Handling and materials fees begin at $9 per box for items under 12 inches. Larger or more valuable items and those that warrant double boxing will have higher material costs.
Condition
Three small areas of enamel loss just above the green border of the lid. Minor recessed areas in the enamel throughout and around the body. One area of enamel 1/2 inch diameter has been filled in near the base rim, another elongated area of loss at the base rim. No major damage.
