Description

Title: Japanese Meiji cloisonné Ginger Jar late 19th Century

Size: 5 ¾” (14.6 cm) tall x 3 ½” (8.9 cm) diameter.

An intricately decorated and intricately worked cloisonné ginger jar with much color and glitter.
A metal base has been intricately worked with brass wires and glass enamels to make complex designs. The six panels are decorated with different designs of silk balls, butterflies and mon. There are metallic flecks throughout and these add a nice reflective element. The matching round lid with matching designs has a lotus bud as a finial. The interior and lid underside are enameled in a plain unadorned brown enamel. The base has three round knob feet that are gold in color. The underside is enameled. MEASUREMENTS
5 ¾” (14.6 cm) tall x 3 ½” (8.9 cm) diameter. Weighs 7.5 oz (215 g)
CONDITION There are no cracks, or breaks. Two small areas on the body have some wear to the enamel. The finial is loose and one side is dented. The enamel on the interior is uneven with lines and is dull. The enamels on the exterior are still bright with a nice smooth feel. There are manufacture flaws in the glass enamels with some slight pitting.
An intricate amazing ginger jar with much work and thought. It will add a richness and substance to the décor.
