Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, written by himself, Boston, Published at the Anti-Slavery Office, 1845. Frederick Douglass (1818-1895) was an African-American social reformer, Abolitionist, orator, writer and statesman. After escaping from slavery, he became a leader of the abolitionist movement, gaining note for his dazzling oratory and incisive anti-slavery writings. Staining on title page and lower pages throughout, etching of Frederick Douglass is present, staining on bottom portion, spine loose but intact, rear cover shows ink staining.
