DESCRIPTION: Collection of drawings and sketches circa the 1940's. Includes: 1) Small hinged Strathmore drawing board with military sketches and cartoon signed "Fray". Open 20" x 5". 2) Painting on paper of a seated man. Preliminary partial pencil sketch of same verso with date stamp "Mar 20 1947". 12" x 9". 3) Eight pieces of cardboard, each with ink drawings of figures including military, Indians, sci-fi, cowboys, etc as well as a Western town scene, Revolutionary War scene, and action-fight scenes. One labeled "Rip Roaring Rangers" (the comic) and another with face sketches from Robin Hood noting the actors playing each part (Robin - Errol Flynn, Sir Guy - Basil Rathbone, etc). Each 14" x 8". 4) Two watercolor drawings, one of woman in Elizabethan dress and one of a man. Both stamped "Reigstered P.A.F.A." and dated verso. Female painting also with female nude sketch verso. 15" x 11". 5) Charcoal drawing of Scarlett & the Deserter as titled. 17-1/4" x 12". 6) Envelope with negative of Fred Ray drawing for Road to Rome for Metr-Goldwin Mayer as labeled on envelope and cardboard folio holding the collection. MEASUREMENTS: See Description. CONDITION: Drawings with light wear and toning as expected with age. Scarlett drawing with more pronounced edge wear with tears to upper two corners.
