Rare volume, comprising the minutes and menus of the first 272 meals of what was perhaps the most exclusive of Manhattan's member's-only clubs of the gilded-age. Founded in 1868 with a membership limited to just 12 men, all among the country's wealthiest citizens, it members included men such as J. Pierpont Morgan, James Hampden Robb, Lewis Cass Ledyard, Nelson Aldrich, Edward E. Potter, etc. A second volume was published in 1928, not present here. OCLC locates only 9 copies, no copies in recent auction records, and no copies currently located in the trade.
