American Classical Stenciled and Parcel-Gilt Mahogany Pier Table, ca. 1825, the marble top over a gilt-stenciled frieze raised on figured columns with bronze capitals and rings, the columns on a shaped low shelf with a stenciled perimeter and backed by a looking glass, raised on carved paw feet, h. 36-3/4", w. 42", d. 18-1/4".

In good antique condition with normal shrinkage, some minor perimeter chips, scattered rubbing and wear. The antique marble top exhibits normal small chips and fleabites to the perimeter edges. The stenciling is in quite good condition, with scattered rubbing. The areas of most notable loss are on the front edge of the lower shelf, where there is loss to the gilt in an area about 3" long, and another about 1" long. There are several shrinkage tears in the veneer, the most notable being a crack that runs the width of the lower shelf, a vertical crack just behind a front leg on the curve of the shelf, and shrinkage tears on each apron return.
