Description
A matched pair of Zapotec cups from Oaxaca, Mexico, ca. 100 – 500 AD. They most likely came from Mitla, are 4-1/4 in high and represent the God '1 Tiger' and the Goddess '2 J'. Both are in exceptional condition and have strong calcification and mineral encrustation. An extremely rare find to have the true matched pair. Cf. Boos 'Ceramic Sculptures of Ancient Oaxaca', page 311. Ex Schultz collection.
