[Guestbook/Ledgers] 6 Vols. 12mo-4to. ++ Register for Highland Farm/ Charles R. Fellows, Proprietor. Guestbook for Highland Farm Inn, listing names of guests, dates of arrival, and places of residence: mostly Massachusetts, a few New Hampshire or Washington, D.C., at least one each New York, Maine, and Colorado. A few lines list the duration of the stay. July 19, 1894 to Oct. 14, 1909. Over 40 pages. Tipped to ffep are a newspaper clipping and an index card [probably later than the guestbook, but used as the bracketed title above]. Interior very good. Contemp ½ leather and cloth, corner and spine ends worn, surface soiling.++ Exercises in Color Harmony. Partly printed, partly handwritten. 15 pages of color specimens executed by hand (of which 5 show fabric patterns and 10 simple squares), 9 single-sided leaves handwritten and 2 printed diagrams with handwritten notes below. Each leaf of color samples signed by E. D. Graff (probably a student). Prtd in upper margin of both diagrams and all color samples: “Philadelphia Textile School. The Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art.” Orig cloth, title is from front cover, which also credits Philadelphia Textile School. Fair. ++ Sale records from a butcher’s shop, Oct. 5- Jan. 19, 1865. Contemp ¼ leather and marbled board edgeworn but good. Interior foxed, toned. ++ Ledger/ E. M. Holland/ Boston August 1st. 1864. Contemp leather. Rear joint split, interior very good. ++ 2 other financial books maintained by Edward M. Holland. 1869-1871, 1873-74. Differing flex leather, ruled paper. One has a few leaves removed from rear of volume and a few internal weak points. Other financial book less worn. Edward Holland was born in and died in Walpole, NH, but spent part of his life in the gold business in California.
