Description
VIRGIL ROSS
(1907-1996) American animator and cartoonist, best known for his work on the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies animated shorts for Warner Bros. Signed pencil sketch, 10" x 12 1/2" color, showing Bugs Bunny as he appears in the short "A Hare Grows in Manhattan", dressed in a robe with beret and glasses, and gesticulating wildly. This short, released in 1947, features an interview with Bugs at his Beverly Hills "mansion" (really a rabbit hole dressed up with columns and a swimming pool), in which he reflects on his rough-and-tumble upbringing on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Signed in pencil beneath the image. Fine.
