Description
20th century AD. A bronze sceptre modelled on the vajra with median bulb and lotus-flower sockets, cage to each end formed with stylised serpent-heads, conical finials 280 grams, 18.5cm (7 1/4"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired before 1996. A Vajra with four points is fairly uncommon and symbolizes the four events in the Buddha's life which are his renunciation, enlightenment, teaching and finally his passing into Nirvana.
