Description
1st century BC-18th century AD. A mixed group of artefacts comprising: a 1st century BC bronze penannular brooch of Type C with scrolled terminals, lozenge-section shank, round-section pin with scrolled finial; a 4th century AD crossbow brooch with three onion-shaped knops, deep bow, rectangular footplate with chamfered sides and ring-and-dot detail, hinged pin; a 2nd century bronze plate brooch formed as an S-shaped plaque with trumpet finials, trumpet-shaped spur, pin-lugs with pin and catchplate; a bronze stylus with round-section shank and broad triangular erasing plate; a clay tobacco pipe with old inked accession number 'A10' and a cross-in-circle motif. 82 grams total, 3-13cm (1 1/4 - 5").
