Description
Levant / Holy Land, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. This is a cream alabaster carved vessel for holding kohl. It has a flat rim and rounded shoulders and, held up to the light, reveals beautiful bands of whiter stone. A small vessel like this would almost certainly have been used to hold kohl, a common cosmetic for both men and women during this period. Size: 2-1/2" H x 1-3/4" W (6.4 cm x 4.4 cm).
