Offered is beautiful etched Mettlach Stein. It was made by Villeroy & Boch of Mettlach and is marked with the Abbey mark. The form or mold number is 1932 the capacity code II. It is signed C. Warth for Christian Warth one of the finest artist and decorators that worked for Villeroy & Boch, Mettlach. He worked for them from 1854 to 1892. The stein has a wonderful pub scene showing two happy bearded men in 17th century costume toasting with banners hanging on either side that say "Ein Glas beim Freund ist gut gemeint" which means "A glass with a friend is well meant". Size is 8-3/4" to the top of the elf on the steins lid x 4" in diameter at the base. There are no chips, cracks or repairs!
