with Fruit". Signed 'L.D. Vaillant' lower left. Plaque on frame. Louis Vaillant (American, 1875 - 1944) was a noted New York area muralist, who studied closely with H. Siddons Mowbray. He was a member of the Architectural League of New York and the National Society of Mural Painters and co-founded the League of Washington Artists in Washington, CT in 1914. Significant commissions include walled panels at the Hotel Hermitage, New York, ceilings of the tea house at Kykuit the Rockefeller Family home in Sleepy Hollow, New York, and the glass windows at the Society of Ethical culture in New York. From the Washington, CT estate of the artist. Dimensions: 29" high x 28" wide. Condition: Overall very good condition. Artist's pencil grid lines are visible beneath pigment in seated figure and some surrounding areas.
