Fine French Boulle Inlaid Brass Bound Cave a Liqueur, c. 1870, the folding lid opening to an interior with a fitted lifting bronze tray, with eight gilt decorated decanters, and sixteen gilt decorated liqueur glasses, all with etched "vintage" decoration, H.- 10 3/4 in., W.- 13 1/2 in., D.- 10 5/8 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. Slight separations are noted going through the center of the top, with smaller scattered cracks seen to the sides. Crackling is observed throughout the boulle decoration. An approximately ¼ inch area of brass is slightly raised along the front. Minor losses to gilt are seen along the top and bottom edges. An apparent repair is noted surrounding the keyhole, and no key is present. All glasses match, with a few spots of minor gilt loss seen throughout the set. Top does not close completely flush. An elegant example.
