Description
Egypt, Middle Kingdom, Dynasty 11 or 12, ca 2060 to 1890 BCE. Large and very fine wooden polychrome boat man. Shown in kneeling position, with articulated arms and probably one of the many rowers or oarsmen, carved from wood and then covered in red, black or white pigment/gesso. A much better than average figure! Size: 7-1/8" H. Custom base.
Provenance: Ex-private S. Florida collection acquired pre-1983.
