A Rare Embroidered Silk Dragon Robe, Chinese Qing Dynasty, mid 19th c. Silk, metal thread, nine dragon roundels on the back side, original wool lining, in excellent condition. Provenance: William Jay Russel, who was Standard Oil's representative agent in Asia between 1896-1902, when he acquired the robe. By descent through the family to current owner. Size: 55"H x 81"W (140 x 205 cm).
