German silver and hard rubber salmon reel in a preferred 3/0 size, 3 5/8" dia. and 1 1/2" spool width, marked "EDWARD vom HOFE, Maker, NY, PAT. MAY 20. 02" on the rear sliding oil cap. Size marking (3/0) and model #423 are marked on the foot. Previous owners initials "W.L.J." are inscribed on the upper back plate. Comes with rear mounted seven position smoothly working drag with position indicator dots and thumb bar adjustment dial, front mounted sliding click (very strong), aluminum handle, spool plates and foot, roller pillars, and beautiful "S" shaped counter balanced handle. The hard rubber plates are clean, chip and crack free with a nice brown patina. The metal components are also clean and undamaged including the foot and the screws, overall this reel is in Excellent minus to Excellent uncleaned condition. Comes with a very solid perfectly form fitting unmarked hard leather case marked 03 on the back of the leather strap.
