Description
Rare vase with dancing figures done by someone named Henri at Tuskegee Institute. Pictured are four human figures, perhaps African dancers, interspersed with geometric forms and faces. Signed by Henri twice near the base and incised Tuskegee Institute Pottery on the bottom. Height 9 7/8 inches. Excellent original condition and quite modern in theme. A similar piece is pictured in Forster, "Alternative American Ceramics, 1870-1955", page 192 but this vase has better color and a more interactive glaze.
