Weller Etched Matt vase with the profile of a beautiful young woman on the side, done in an unusual glossy finish, possibly a trial or experimental piece. The collar and rim of the vase are hand applied and twisted somewhat, ala George Ohr. Incised on the bottom Weller Etched Matt 53. Affixed to the bottom is a label from "The Rare, The Unusual, The Seldom Seen Weller Pottery Museum Exhibition" a seminal show done in conjunction with publication of the book by the same name, the work of Allan Wunch and Linda Carrigan. This vase is pictured and described in that book on page 38.
