Description
French, first half of 19th century. A four-panel wooden screen applied with wallpaper painted with two idyllic landscape scenes, the left two panels depicting a hunting scene with two noblemen, one in officer's regalia, and a hound on the grounds of a Palladian palace with a hill and trees in the background, the right two screens depicting a farm scene with two peasants with a pig and a peasant woman with basket in front of a house with upper hayloft against a background of hills and trees, each scene framed by a floral border with white flowers and gold leaves on a blue ground above red faux marble painting, with verdigris painted back. Approximate height 75.25", width 94", depth 1.25"
