SET OF EIGHT FEDERAL-STYLE INLAID MAHOGANY DINING CHAIRS, comprising two armchairs and six side chairs, each featuring square crest rail with central figured panel over an urn-form central splat surmounted with a "Prince of Wales" carved ornament, upholstered seat, raised on square-tapered front legs and square rear legs with slight sweep, line-inlaid embellishment throughout. Retains an old estate surface with warm color. Attributed to the Feldenkreis Cabinet Shop, Philadelphia, PA. Circa 1910-1930. Side chairs 37 1/8" H, 18 3/4" x 21 3/4" seat (each). Armchairs 37 1/8" H, 20" x 22 1/2" seat (each).

Provenance: Property from the estate of Elise Sprunt, Rockbridge Co., VA, by descent from Charles Huston Haines (1898-1996) of Philadelphia.
Catalogue Note: The present chairs descended directly from the original owner Charles Huston Haines (1898-1996) of Philadelphia. By oral tradition, they were purchased from the Feldenkries Cabinet Shop in Philadelphia and were modeled after a set in the White House Collection. The Feldenkreis family operated a three-generation cabinetmaking business in Philadelphia and were known for fine work.

Good overall condition with areas of wear and scratches to surface. Small losses to inlaid decoration. Later upholstery.
