GENTS STRIPED VELVET COAT and BREECHES, c. 1760. Horizontally striped silk velvet in maroon alternating with cream and red voided and cut bands, coat having narrow stand collar, front cut with curve over chest, deep cuff and shaped pocket flaps, self buttons, pleated back with vent, breeches with two welt pockets above angled pockets with button, knee bands below side buttons, homespun facings. Ch-36, Sh-15, Slv-23, coat L-43, W-30, inseam 16. (Some wear to nap and fading, coat lining partially replaced, repairs, one button missing at back hem, breeches many horizontal tears, lacking waistcoat) fair.
