Description
Emile Galle (French, 1846 - 1904), circa late 19th century. Emile Galle faience pottery covered jar, possible for tea, in the Japonisme taste with circular lid painted with a magnolia over a square body with canted corners, the front decorated with a yellow teapot filled with magnolia tea and scrolling steam from the spout, the backside with tall yellow bottle with the initials EG, blue-green leaf and flower motif. The base signed 'Galle Nancy' and stamped with the St. Clement/Terre de Lorraine mark. Approximate height 5.6", width 4.15", depth 4.15".
