Description
The piece features a stone ar club rawhide wrapped on a wood stem handle showing quill and beadwork from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians. The war club stone head shows a rawhide connection to the stem covered with a ribbed rawhide decoration with red, white, and yellow quill work (quillwork). The left side of the head covering has tin jingle cones with deep blue dyed Buffalo hair and the right side having red dyed Buffalo hair in tin jingle cones. The piece is from the Montana area circa 1870's and shows a well preserved rare condition. The handle or stem is rawhide covered with chalk white, greasy yellow, and red early 19th century glass trade seed beads. Measures 16"L with a 3.25"x2 7/8x 2 7/8" stone head.
