Description
Roman, ca. 1st century CE. This is a very small red ware amphora, also known as an amphiskoros, that would have been used in the household. It probably held olive oil or garum, the popular Roman fish sauce. Size: 9-1/4"H x 3"W at handles x 2-1/4"W at widest.
Provenance: Ex-Pearson collection acquired at Arte Primitivo, NYC, NY.
