This thick 8vo (7 x 9 inches) is in period embossed brown calf with leather and brass closure clasps and 5 brass studs on each board by or to Iosif, (Joseph) Patriarch of Moscow and the whole of Russia. This information was written on a note included with this book, but as I cannot read or translate this early Cyrillic text, therefore cannot confirm this, but paper and printing style certainly matches the period. The text is printed in black with some first letters and headings in red ink.it has circa 800pp with one frontis type illustration about 90 pages into text. Penciled inscription on first page reads ‘1497’, presumably the date of printing. Am not sure of the penciled date as Joseph Patriarch of Moscow died in 1652.

: Likely rebound, a few hundred years ago, some repairs to 1st & 2nd pages and a few others scattered through book, but all minor marginal repairs. One page has been tipped in and is in ink manuscript. Over-all Very Good.
