This rare book is a trigesimo-segundo size (3.25 x 5.5 inch) bound in black leather with polished yellow end papers and paste-downs with 99 numbered pages. There is no publisher or date, but the book appears to be from the last quarter of the 19th century and while chapter headings are in standard English the rest is in an unknown code; for example the heading and 1st eleven lines of page 97 is as follows: ‘Closing./2. Z.S. hv u aythg on yr tabl t cm bfr/te>./5. Nthg wfl./Nythg in te W Z 3./3. Nthg wpfl./2. Aythg I te S Z 4./4. Nthg wfl./2. Hs a-y Z arnd te > aythg fr te gd/o te cft I gnl or the > in prtclr. If nt I/sl prc t cls. Z 8 te ls a- wl a- cnstnt cre/o fdrels whn cnvd.’ (Note: in the above text the backslash is a line break and not in printed text). While much of code appears to be dropping of some vowels, there are also many symbols used such as Maltesse crosses, or a circle with dot in center and many others.

Not sure it is complete, may lack title page, or more likely it never had one. Most pages are worn at margins and sewn binding partially loose. Would be interested to know if anyone has any idea about this book. Could find no examples on the net.
