A black buckram bound horizontal folio (10 x 13.75 inches) with 147 silver gelatin photos of this trip to Europe and North Africa (all but one are 3 x 4 inches) pasted into album with images attached to only one side of each page, making their removal easy, plus 57 more photographs taken back in and around Marietta, Ohio. The one photo from the trip which is larger is actually three put together to form a panorama of Gibraltar and is 6 x 22 inches. These three images are loose and were never pasted into the album. Total number of photographs in this album is 304. There are also a number of great photos of a circa 1904 Buick touring car and other early automobiles. A floor scene labeled ‘fourth opposite College’ from Ohio Wesleyan. Photo of girl with doll, a hand colored photo of their home and more. The album begins with title page reading ‘A Trip Abroad Spring & Summer 1904’. The first page of photos is entitled ‘Leaving New York’ with 4 images, two of N.Y.C. skyline from the steamer, one of the Statue of Liberty and one of the family of six on the dock, before boarding. The net page is entitled ‘On Board the Steamer’. This page and the next have five photos of life aboard including one of young photographer with his camera taking photo of the photographer. The next two pages are titled ‘Scenes in Gibraltar’ with 9 interesting photos of the town and harbor. The next 7 pages are entitled ‘Gibraltar Hospital Scenes’ and include 30 photos of the youngest of this group (a boy of about 17yrs) during his state at a hospital for British and other travelers to Gibraltar. These images show his English nurses, a small dog that they brought to keep him company, the family visiting, other hospital workers, grounds, buildings and more. The next 4 pages are entitled ‘Gibraltar Friends’ with 17 images including images of a young British officer in uniform. The next page is titled ‘Algiciras’ (Spanish Port city in the Bay of Gibraltar) and has 5 photos. The next 2 pages is titled ‘Slumber in Dreams Over and Through Spain’ with 8 photos. The next 2 pages are entitled ‘Ronda’ and has six photos, three of a bullfight arena. The next page is entitled ‘Cordova’ and has 5 photos of the city.
