Description
An albumen cdv shoulder length portrait of Capt. Richard W. Reynolds who served with the 145th Ohio National Guard, which was mustered into federal service on May 123, 1864. The One Hundred and Forty-fifth Infantry was commanded by Col., Henry C. Ashwill; Lieut.-Col., Lloyd A. Lyman; Maj., Henry C. Olds. It was composed of the 21st battalion, Ohio National Guard, from Delaware County, and the 13th battalion, from Erie County. It was immediately ordered to Washington, D. C., and on its arrival was assigned to Gen. Augur as garrison for Forts Whipple, Woodbury, Tillinghast and Albany, comprising the southern defenses of Washington on Arlington Heights. The service of the regiment consisted principally of garrison and fatigue duty. On Aug. 20, the time of its enlistment having expired, it was moved by the Baltimore & Ohio railroad to Baltimore and thence by the Northern Central, Pennsylvania Central, etc., to Camp Chase, where on Aug. 24 it was mustered out.
