TOWNSHEND CHARLES VERE FERRERS: (1861-1924) British Army officer who led the disastrous first British expedition against Baghdad during WWI. Signed 9 x 11 sepia photograph by Townshend, the image depicting the Army officer in full length pose, outdoor, wearing his uniform. Signed in bold black ink to the lower clear area of the image `C.V.F. Townshend Major-General´ dated Jhanzi India, 20th November 1913 in his hand. Townshend was appointed Commander of Jhanzi Brigade in India in 1913. Some overall age wear with very small tears to the left edge. The photograph has been neatly affixed to a slightly larger cardboard. Together with Signed piece Charles V.F. Townshend M.G. The 3.5 x 1.7 piece has been affixed to a white postcard, beneath a 2.2 x 2.7 photograph, also affixed, the image depicting Townshend in a head and shoulders pose wearing his uniform. G, 4. £100-150
