Description
A group of three Egyptian vellum fragments with Coptic writing, c. 5th – 7th Century AD, the first a tall and slender piece with multiple partial lines of neatly penned characters and two others fragments with clear lines of text. On the opposite side of the two smaller are equal amounts of text, the tall slender piece with only two additional partial lines. A nice frames group measuring 5 ¼ in x 5/8 in (13.3 x 1.6 cm); 3 1/8 in x 1 ½ in (7.9 x 3.7 cm) and 3 in x ¾ in (7.6 x 1.9 cm). All are mounted together in a frame measuring 8 1/8 in x 6 1/8 in (20.7 x 15.6 cm). Ex Hamdy Sakr collection, London, acquired in the 1960’s - 1970’s.
