called Chi'wara this composite headdress is made up of a woven cane cap and a four part sculpture of an antelope with a standing female figure between the horns. Held together and stabilized with home spun cloth, iron nails and elaborate bindings of varying age. Traces of sacred palm oil on the figure and between the rear set of horns. The figure has a metal nose ring and wristlet. The antelope introduced the skills and magic of agriculture to the Bambara people.
