(2) RENE PORTOCARRERO STUDIES ON STATIONARY Rene Portocarrero (Cuban, 1912-1985), (2) ink on stationary studies of some of his popular subject matter--women with birds. Portocarrero was known for his colorful, spontaneous style. The stationary is from the Operacion Industria Cubana, an exhibition put on to raise money for various Cuban government projects. Both signed and dated 1982.

Provenance: From the collection of Cuban musician, Odilio Luis Urfe (1921-1988). The consignor's family was close friends with Urfe, who was closely associated to the arts and cultural community. These pieces were contained in a grouping of art gifted from Urfe to the consignor's father.
