Description
WE SHIP! The AEAA is proud to present this gorgeous pair of exceptional Chinese hand carved & polished bangle bracelets, both in spectacular Jadeite, with Egyptian style Isis wings spread hand carved rosewood stands. These 1930s Middle Peoples Republic of China Period (1928-1939), bangles are in a gorgeous classic apple green to white, and 1 is in scarce solid green. Both have been tested with an incredibly strong & sharp German Boker folding knife, with absolutely no impressions made. and are all in wonderful condition. The total weight of this valuable lot is 13 oz., & with the stand measured for reference at 2.75 x 1.25 x 4.55 inches tall. These fine heirlooms are from the living estate of Ailene & Buddy Ford, respected, longtime dealers of valuable antiques. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.Bangle bracelets originated in the Neolithic period, around 3500 BC, and special emphasis was placed on these ornaments by the Liang Zhu culture (ca. 3400-2250 BC). Popularity of this form continued through the Shang Dynasty, with increasing ornamental designs appearing in the Western and Eastern Zhou eras. Inexplicably, the bangle style bracelet virtually ceased production after the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770-221 BC), only to be resurrected in the Qing Dynasty, with the advent and availability of the gorgeous new Jadeite. xxxxxxxxxxxxx The Qing Dynasty brought two remarkable Emperors to the world. Under Kang Xi, diamond tip lapidary was born, making delicate low-relief Jade carving possible, and mastering the art of exact high-relief, pierced carving. Emperor Qien Lung, who was also a poet, artist and Calligrapher, continued the tradition of excellence. Under his reign, using pure white, Mutton fat and spinach green jades, ornate statuary reached its zenith, and the fabled boulders with groups were born. Solid pure white nephrite plaques and pendants became plentiful, with fine low relief carving, and spectacular brush pots and table screens, came to prominence. In 1784, the Emperor Qien Lung signed a treaty with Burma, which allowed the unrestricted flow of Jadeite into China, thereby changing the history of Jade production for all time. The hardest of all the jade types, Jadeite became the most prolific and versatile carved medium in the 19th century, featuring its hallmark brilliant apple green striations, and Rare pink & blue lavender hues.
