Description
WE SHIP! The AEAA is proud to present this gorgeous 2000 Fenton Limited Edition blue satin Burmese JIP (Jack in the Pulpit) Vase, finished in a gorgeous blue Hibiscus theme, hand painted by Mark Young. Our limited edition vase features incredible florals and pink shading, numbering 836 / 2750, and is Fenton Ware #7255 QZ. It weighs 1# 12 oz., measuring 6 x 4.25 x 11 inches tall, and is in wonderful condition! These fine heirlooms are from the living estate of Ailene & Buddy Ford, respected, longtime dealers of valuable antiques. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. On September 1, 1960, Fenton family friend, church associate, and chemist, Charlie Goe was hired from the American Cyanamid Chemical Co. Ike Willard was the glass-maker at the time, but didn’t have enough hours in the day to accomplish glass and color research. Charlie seized the mantle, and was aided (2 days / week) by Dr. Alexander Silverman, a noted glass technician, and the Chairman of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh. Through the 1960s, Charlie contributed much to the Fenton business, with his development of their famed Vasa Murrhina and Rosalene formulas. However, the single most important development in Charlie Goe’s career, was his invention of the Fenton Burmese Glass. After several years of work, in October of 1969, Charlie in a cold sweat, dragged Frank Fenton to a lehr so Frank could see the Burmese glass coming out. The pieces were gorgeous, and the Burmese era had begun. As per Mt. Washington, the Fenton formula contained both Uranium Oxide & Colloidal Gold which reacted together to form a rich Custard look after the first fire. During the second fire, the yellow glass takes on a Salmon blush color, due to the expansion of the gold molecules, and their bonding to the Uranium Oxides, resulting in greater strength, becoming that which is called a Nucleated Glass. Though Charlie Goe had achieved a life’s ambition, the cruel vicissitudes of fate, never allowed Charlie to see his Burmese in production. Subsequent to triumphantly presenting his baby to Frank Fenton, he went to play a game of handball that same afternoon. After his game, and while accepting congratulations in the locker room, poor Charlie Goe suffered a massive heart attack, and passed immediately. However, his Burmese legacy will live forever.
