French Art Nouveau Marquetry Inlaid Fruitwood Two Tier Table, late 19th c., by Emile Galle (1846-1904), the serpentine top with inlaid marquetry to a lower serpentine marquetry inlaid shelf featuring a crane in flight and butterfly, on cabriole legs, the top tier signed l.r. center, H.- 32 1/2 in., W.- 28 1/2 in., D.- 19 3/4 in.

Condition consistent with age and use. Expected scratches, wear and scuffs are seen throughout the piece, especially near the bottom of the legs. An approximately 2 inch scratch and one centimeter gouge are noted to the top. A triangular loss is seen between the stem and leaf of one veneered flower on the top. Several chips are observed to the edge of the bottom shelf. A pea-sized yellow discoloration and larger, approximately 1 inch, brown discoloration are noted on the bottom shelf. Several small areas of buckling, measuring approximately three centimeters, are noted on the bottom shelf and a palm-sized circle of lifting but securely attached veneer is noted on the top. A patch of brown streaks is observed on the bottom shelf, extending from the bottom of the landscape to the center. The piece wobbles slightly when pressure is applied but exhibits solid construction overall. Several uneven patches of staining are observed on the legs where they meet the top shelf.
