Description
Southeast Asia, Burma / Myanmar, late 19th century CE. Large and heavy wood and iron coconut splitter. Lovely wooden shaft with subtle curve and long sharp iron blade. One's first reaction when holding it is that the blade should be oriented the opposite direction, but when you swing it you find the balance works perfectly with this orientation and you actually get a quicker swing-speed. Size: 23"L (58,4cm).
