Japan, Late Edo / Meiji, ca. 1860 to 1900 CE. Lovely matched pair of Imperial character dolls. Each wonderfully attired in period costumes, faces and hands painted wood. Female wears an ornate bejeweled kamuri crown, male wears a "ho" hat. Size: largest 18"H with crown.
