12. “Manneken Pis” Folk Art Cane-Ca. 1850-Single piece and substantial boxwood shaft topped by the Manneken Piss or “Little Pee Man” famed mascot of the City of Brussels and inscribed “LE PLUS VIEUX BRUXELLOIS” which translates “The oldest Brusseller”. The carving is an exact copy of the bronze figure of the naked little boy urinating into a fountain’s basin which was designed by Hiëronymus Duquesnoy the Elder and put in place in 1618 or 1619. The cane survived in mint, original condition, with a superb glazed patina and original brass ferrule.-H. 5 ¼” x 1 ¾”, O.L. 36 ½”-$2,000-$3,000
