Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten
The Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten was founded in 1718 by Claudius Innocentius du Paquier. With the help of a special privilege, vested on him by the emperor Charles VI., du Paquier built up a monopoly position in porcelain making in Austria. The manufactory came into the property of the court under Maria Theresias reign. It reached a high level of prominence during the classicism with its elegant decorations and got further more known through the delicate flower decors of the Biedermeier time. A new climax was reached during the Art Dco, when the manufactory collaborated with the newest artists and designers. Designs from this time are still highly sought after. (tfa)
