Décor: flowers, with gold-framed turquoise rim
Very good condition
Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 770 EUR

The coffee and tea service was created in the porcelain manufactory Ch. Pillivuyt & Cie, Paris, during the period between 1867 and 1889. The service 'Swan' is designed in a sleek shape. The décor shows small flower branches on both sides. A broad gold-framed turquoise rim embellishes the pieces.

The 53-piece service is suitable for a number of at least 11 persons and it consists of the following parts:

1 lidded coffee pot

1 lidded sugar jar

1 cream jug

18 cups, incl. 18 saucers

11 cake plates, ø 22.5 cm

3 cake platters, ø 24.5 cm

All pieces of the porcelain service by Ch. Pillivuyt & Cie, except for the saucers, bear the maker’s mark underneath. The porcelain is in very good condition with minimal manufactory flaws and only slight traces of use, such as insignificant abrasion of the golden color and small chips to the rims of the two cups.

Ch. Pillivuyt & Cie (gegr. 1818)

The porcelain manufactory Ch. Pillivuyt & Cie was founded by Jean Louis Richard Pillivuyt in 1818 in Foëcy, France. After a quick success and constant growth, the manufactory was relocated to Mehun-sur-Yèvre in 1854. The company won several gold medals at International Exhibitions until the 20th century. The world wars ruined the Pillivuyt financially; it had to be sold and modernized and now belongs to a Swiss owner. Pillivuyts products and designs are still very popular all over the world. (tm)
