Description
20th century AD. A carved wooden figurine of the Chinese Immortal Shou Lao old bearded man on an openwork base, with tapering staff surmounted by a cone with symbols. 655 grams, 31.5cm (12 1/2"). Property of a Gloucestershire gentleman; inherited from his grandfather. Shou Lao is the Taoist god of good fortune and long life. In his other hand he holds the peach of immortality, sometimes with a crane on top of that (both are symbols of immortality). [No Reserve]
