Description
FEDERAL PERIOD TALL CLOCK - Tallcase Clock in Cherry, made by Solomon Parke & Co, Philadelphia, 146 No. 2nd St, (active 1797-1801). 8 day brass movement, weight driven time and strike. The bonnet has molded swan's neck pediment, roundels and three wooden finials, the arched glazed door flanked by fluted colonnettes, enclosing an arched white-painted clock dial with maker's name and phases of the moon register, minute circle and calendar aperture; the trunk with arched door and fluted quarter round stiles, matching plinth; on oval scrolled bracket feet. All original but the finials, two brass key escutcheons, dial repainted circa 1920, floor board has minor imperfections. Includes keys and crank. 102" (8'-6") tall, 22" x 10 3/4" at top.
