Description

EARLY CAMPHORWOOD CAMPAIGN CHEST - Chinese Export Two-Part Chest for the English Market, circa 1815, in highly figured camphor with brass fittings, ebony string inlay to the drawer fronts, having a top center pull out flat writing surface that folds down to reveal an even larger slanted writing surface, in matching original green velvet, a small drawer above for pens and ink, valanced compartments beneath the upper hinged portion of the slanted surface; the desk is flanked by two large drawers, below which are two deep half-width drawers; the lower cabinet contains two graduated full-width drawers, all have flush-mount pulls, heavy bail pulls on the side of each section, the entirety is raised on squat turned legs. 42 1/2" x 41" x 18 1/2". Very good condition, lacks key.
